Thomas Park in Boston
Lovely place, Thomas Park, if you want to take your dog for a walk on-leash. The view of the city is wonderful and in the evening there are always some dogs around your dog can play with.

Last Monday was a big day for Libby, Zoe and Murphy. The preview of an episode of the PBS show “Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman”, starring the three Bostonian dogs, was showed at Doggie Day.
In the show three children were asked to design and tailor dog clothes for the dogs.
A red carpet at the door welcomed the three stars. A lot of people attended the event, including some children from the cast.

We run into this big park in South Boston, located between B street and W. Second street.
Jennifer, pictured below with her “customers”, is a friendly dog walker and dog sitter specialised in small dogs. She usually comes here.
The park is not an official dog park but neighbors started to use it to take their dog for a run off-leash. The park is huge and clean, also because dog owners take good care of it, and always clean after their dogs.
If you live in the area and have no time to take your dog to the park, you could be interested in Jennifer’s services. You can write here at jenMS71 @ msn.com.
It was a beautiful sunny day today at Brookline Playground, located in Brookline Ave: here are some pics we took at the Dachshunds meetup.
Meet Fletcher!
And here is Chester.
Happy, pictured belowed, is Chester’s “sister”. Happy’s mom, Laura, is the Massachusetts representative for the Coast to Coast Dachsund Rescue. Happy is collecting money to help less lucky Dachshund who are looking for a family.
Talula is a pretty five month old Dachshund: watch the video to see her making new friends!
Residents who live around the Starbucks at 627 Tremont St. complained about barking dogs, waiting for their owners outside of the cafe. Starbucks, then, asks patrons with pets to wait outside and call in their orders from the sidewalk. Starbucks employees will bring their beverages to them.
The original solution seems to please both neighbors and dog owners. Dogs, too, are pretty happy for not being left alone and unattended outside of Starbucks!

The Animal Rescue League is a great organization that was established over 100 years ago. It is dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals. They still do it, providing an animal shelter, adoption services, an animal clinic, an emergency rescue service, behavior evaluation and training, and many more services and programs.
We met with Dr. Amy Marder, a veterinarian behaviorist and Dr Martha Smith, the director of the Veterinary Medicine division.
Among others, Dr. Marder does research on how common certain misbehaviors are in homes and, together with her staff, she has developed a program that helps animals and people to live together in harmony.
If you need advise about your pet’s behavior you can call the ARL Behavior Helpline or set up a individual appointment with Dr. Marder. Here you can find the contact info: www.arlboston.org/Main/training.aspx
Dr Martha Smith showed us around in the shelter facilities and the animal clinic. We met many cute animals, from cats and dogs to rabbits and birds. They are all waiting to be adopted. I was so lucky to be allowed to name a cute kitty, so I named it after my own cat Oscar.
Here is Oscar!
June is the National Adopt-a-Cat Month. So for the rest of this month you will be able to a adopt a cat over one year of age at a reduced adoption fee.
In the pic below Dr Martha Smith together with a Cacadu.
And here with a dog called Dirty (because of all the spots!).

You can also become a volunteer like Silvia, one of Sniffy Girls. Just check the ARL web page on how you can get involved. You can become, for instance, a Canine Companion or an Adoption Assistant.
You can visit the Animal Rescue League at 10 Chandler Street, Boston, MA 02116 or the centers in Dedham and East Brewster.
