Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space (Peters Park) - the first official dog park in Boston - is almost ready! The dedication and opening with Mayor Menino is scheduled for 3:30 – 4:30 on Sunday November 4th.
Pictured below, Coco is exploring the small dogs park. In fact, there will be a bigger park for big dogs and a separate section for small dogs.

The park is totally privately funded. Friends of Peters Park, the group of dog owners sponsoring the park, collected $363,000 in order to build the new recreational area. This is a great achievement, as they collected $13,000 more than their original goal.

Dog owners can now use a fenced-in area beside the new park.
But mark these dates.
Starting on October 15th, a portion of the new park can be used as a temporary space to allow for final work to be completed on the rest of Peters Park.
On October 29th, the new park will be closed so that final work can be completed prior to the Grand Unleashing on November 4th. During this time, dogs will not have a temporary park to use.
