Our friend Amanda, who helps organize the Boston Yorkie Meetup, sent us some really cute pictures from the party she threw this weekend, celebrating her Yorkie Hudson’s 3rd birthday.
The party was held in one of the play rooms at Doggie Day Care in the South End.

All the lucky dogs at the party feasted on the special dog treat cake- seen here:
And there was also an amazing cake for humans too, featuring the birthday boy!

A friend of ours in the UK sent us a really cute and funny story about German police dogs that wear special Dog Shoes. The shoes help protect the dogs from any broken glass while on patrol.

One of our readers sent us this link today following the amazing story of Nubs the dog (named after his small ears), who was found by US troops in Iraq. The Border-Collie/German-Sheppard mix was nursed back to health and has now been brought back to the US. When we saw this picture- we just had to post it!

Last week we heard the amazing news, that the Animal Rescue League of Boston received a $3,000,000 donation from the Stanton Group.
The Stanton Group’s donation is the single largest gift in ARL chapter’s 109 year history. The money will go to establish a new center for local shelter dogs.
Local veterinarian, Gary Patronek is quoted in the article saying that the “center for Shelter Dogs will extend beyond the discipline of Animal Behavior and will incorporate clinical medicine and epidemiology to develop a world-class program on behalf of homeless dogs waiting for adoption into loving, caring homes.”
