I wonder how many countries lack similar laws. Also, thanks for taking the initiative to write to PETA and it's good to hear they responded promptly. The letter they responded to me with explained that this was done in Nicaragua which has no laws to protect animals from cruelty. The Link they included made me feel slightly better because it explains that the VI Central American Visual Arts Biennale (in honduras this year) prohibit the abuse of animals as an exhibit. Although this was a horrible and disgusting act, it has prompted legislation to protect all animals in Nicaragua. At least some good can become of this tragedy.
