Dogs in the Workplace?

>   Boston Woofstyle, The Howler  —  SNIF  @  11:45 am

Recently, there has been a lot of talk of pet friendly offices. With strong arguments for and against this type of office arrangement. As we make a dog-related product, our office is of course, dog-friendly. With the exception of the occasional accident, having dogs at the office is a great addition.

John Long, a member of Pet Sitters International was quoted in an article on Boston.com, stating, “Having dogs in the workplace has been shown to reduce stress and improve employee morale.” This has rung true for our office, as well as other companies around Boston. One of our close friends Lily, was just featured in an article about her company Sermo, located in Cambridge, MA.

Over the past couple of years “Bring Your Dog to Work Day” has seen a spike in popularity. What do YOU think about dog-friendly offices? Is this environment something that would attract you to a job? We love to hear your feedback!

Stuart’s Summer Time Tips

>   Active Pack, Boston Woofstyle  —  SNIF  @  4:30 pm

Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in grass outside

With the warm weather already here, Stuart would like to share a few tips about dog safety during the hot summer months! Of course, each dog varies in terms of how much they can and cannot tolerate. As a Greater Swiss Mountain dog, Stuart has a double black coat of fur. This means he gets very hot very fast! Below are some steadfast rules that apply to every dog.

Rule Number One: Always bring cool water whenever walking with your dog.
Some dark colored dogs may need to be hosed down to cool off.

Rule Number Two: Never leave your dog in a car.
Even with the windows rolled down, it only takes a few minutes for the dog to get heatstroke!

Rule Number Three: Walk at night.
Walk your dog in either the early morning or evening, but never after a meal or when the weather is humid.

Rule Number Four: Beach day no-nos.
Unless you can guarentee that your dog has a shaded spot and plenty of fresh water, it is not a good idea to bring your pooch to the beach. Also, be sure to thoroughly rinse off all salty dogs!

Celtic Pride

>   Boston Woofstyle, The Howler  —  SNIF  @  12:11 pm

What a great time to be in Boston - sports fan or not. The weather is breaking, the dogs are hitting the parks and the overall feeling of summer time is in the air.

Then have the Boston Celtics claim victory over LA (always nice to woop up on a west coast team) and you’ve got yourself one of the most optimal cities to be spending your time in. Chop sure thinks so.

Can you get your dog to wear hats and what not? Send us some of your summer photos and we’ll be happy to post them. Be warned, chop has some serious Boston pride.

Telepathic Dogs?

>   The Howler  —  SNIF  @  10:17 am

Young boy giving a small dog kisses

We all share a special bond with our dogs. They never judge us for our flaws or what we look like in the morning; they provide us with unconditional love and support in the times we need it most. It’s no doubt that a relationship between a human and dog is close, but how close? One experiment aims to find that out.

Dogsthatknow.com claims that there is a telepathic relationship between you and your dog based on your dog’s behavior while you’re away from the house. By videotaping dogs’ actions when the owner is away, dogsthatknow.com strives to prove that dogs are aware of their owner’s behaviors through other means than just the ordinary senses. For more information about this experiment visit dogsthatknow.com.
