A young male pittie needs a home

>   Shelters, Adoption  —  SNIF  @  4:20 am

Happy

Happy is a 1-2 year old pit bull who is looking for a new home. His name says it all – he always seems to be grinning and wagging his tail. He is a stocky guy but is only about 35-40 lbs, the perfect size. He makes his 90 lb foster brother look like a giant!

Happy is almost housebroken and is learning basic commands. He is crate trained as well. He learns very quickly. He loves other dogs and would do well living with a female. He also does great with all of the people he meets.

Happy loves to play, but he settles down very quickly and is actually quite mellow. He is also very agile and athletic; he would make a great jogging partner. Happy is very affectionate. His favorite hobbies include cuddling, playing with his toys, cuddling, but rubs, cuddling, meeting new people and cuddling – get the point? Everyone that meets Happy absolutely adores him. To sum it up, he is the perfect little pint sized pit bull.

Please complete the adoption application on www.underdogresq.org today!
You can even apply to become a foster family.

The MSPCA Angell Medical Center in Boston

>   Adoption  —  SNIF  @  1:34 pm

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA) is a national and international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine, and it is the second-biggest animal hospital in the United States.

We met Dr. Rebecca Remillard there, a PhD diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition. She is an amazing nutritionist specialized in helping dogs get healthier and fitter!

Later, we visited the MSPCA adoption center - crowded of beautiful dogs and cats waiting for a new house. If you would like to pay a visit, the MSPCA is located at 350 S Huntington Ave, in Jamaica Plain. More photos of adoptable pets are published here.

Husky Available for Adoption

>   Adoption  —  SNIF  @  10:35 am

Eliza

We heard from the Boston Snow Dogs Playgroup that there is a beautiful Siberian Husky mix named Eliza for adoption up at the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire in Bedford, NH (a bit west of Manchester, NH and about 90 mins from Boston).

Eliza is a 4 year old spayed female who came to the shelter as a stray. She is a sweet, friendly girl who is a bit overweight. Since she has a possible skin allergy, she will have to be fed a high quality food especially for weight loss. Like most of her breed, she should have a home without cats or other small animals. Huskies also are known escape artists so she should have a fenced yard (not electric fence). Eliza is very social and would love to meet you.

Write to Danielle if you are interested in adopting Eliza.

Doggie Foster Homes Needed

>   Adoption  —  SNIF  @  9:12 am

Adoptable dog

In this season of giving, why not open your heart and your home to a dog in need? UnderdogResQ is a non-profit dog rescue organization that works throughout New England to save good dogs from being euthanized. They place those dogs with caring foster homes (they have no kennel of their own), and work to find them a forever home. Every new foster home saves another dog - and this is your opportunity to get involved and actively help save the life of a wonderful pet.

Adopted dog

Underdogresq welcomes all breeds, and every dog undergoes a throrough behavioral test before being placed with a family to ensure that he or she will make a safe and good pet. Through the years, this association had tremendous success with the dogs they’ve saved, and they are proud to count many of their adopting “parents” among their volunteers.

For more information on the Foster Program, and to fill out an application, go to: www.underdogresq.org or email info@underdogresq.org.

Supercute puppies are looking for a forever home!

>   Adoption  —  SNIF  @  7:17 am

Today we have a post from our good friends at www.underdogresq.org:

Owen

Butkus

We are precious little baby pit bulls who were left at a shelter - one little girl, and two cute boys. Tessa, the little girl, thinks she’s the cutest of the bunch, but Butkus and Owen are holding their own by making fast friends with the humans around.

Tessa

Tessa, pictured above, had this to say:

“I am a petite puppy of 15 pounds and I will likely be a petite adult when I am full grown. I am working very hard to get housebroken and I do really, really well in my crate. I won’t go in there, no matter what. I know sit and no and I am also working very hard to learn a couple of more commands. I would benefit from an obedience class so I can work on learning lots of different things.

I am a cuddler. I love to be picked up and carried around. I will sleep in your arms. I would like it if you would keep cuddling me and hold me. I like to bury my face in your chest and sleep like that. I also like to be rocked. I will stand up on my hind legs for you to bend over and pick me up. You will have a lap dog in me! I have a tail that wags constantly. I also have a very expressive face. I seem to always look worried because my forehead is a little wrinkly, but really, I’m just very inquisitive. I like to cock my head to one side when you speak to me so I can try to understand everything you say.

I must be pretty cute because when new people see me and meet me, they squeal really high pitched and say things like, “Whatta pwetty wittie pittie oh yes you are!” to me. No one has been able to resist picking me up and kissing my face. I am happy to kiss everyone back though, so that is quite okay!

I live with one of my littermate brothers and 2 adult female pit bulls. I also live with 4 young children and 2 adults. I can go to a home with children but I should be an only dog. I should also go to a home who knows a lot about my breed and who wants to train me in obedience. I think I’d be pretty good at agility too! I really enjoy people, big and small, and can’t wait to meet my forever home!”

To adopt Tessa, Owen or Butkus, please fill out an application on www.underdogresq.org - and for further information email info@underdogresq.org.

Zeus is Looking for a Lovely Home!

>   Shelters, Boston Woofstyle, Adoption  —  SNIF  @  9:37 am

Zeus

Zeus is a lovely and beautiful Dogo Argentino Mastiff- which is not a very common breed. He’s been homeless for almost a year and he is looking for a family willing to give him love and a house. He had a family for over six years, but sadly he was given to a shelter as a result of a divorce.

Zeus would make a wonderful addition to a good home: he loves playing with children, is very energetic, and very loyal.

If you are interested in adopting Zeus, please check the Underdog ResQ website and complete the form here.
